Humanities Thesis Skill supports Chinese-language research in literature, history, philosophy, sociology, communication, and related humanities fields. It starts from the research object and a concrete puzzle, then helps connect close reading, theoretical concepts, historical context, and a progressively developed argument.
The package includes writing templates, literature-analysis and material-integration guides, multilingual terminology resources, and Python text-review rules. It explicitly forbids invented references, quotations, and historical details; unavailable sources should remain marked for verification, and a paper should not be analyzed from its title alone.
The review script detects textual signals such as vague citations, inconsistent terminology, empty footnotes, mixed punctuation, and structural omissions. These are heuristic findings, not proof that a citation exists or an argument is valid. The inspected source hardcodes a future-year threshold of 2026, so it will need maintenance. The main workflow recommends manual search and import for Chinese databases rather than promising reliable automated access.
Core capabilities
Research-question development
Turn a broad interest into an arguable, evidence-supported question rooted in specific texts or historical material.
Theory and close-reading alignment
Define theoretical concepts, justify their applicability, and connect them to specific source details.
Progressive argument structure
Build chapters that develop the argument rather than presenting disconnected observations or background summaries.
Rule-based Chinese text review
Flag format, terminology, register, and credibility signals with locations and suggestions for author inspection.
What you can use it for
Focus a humanities thesis topic
Start with a specific work, event, or corpus and identify the interpretive tension that can sustain an argument.
Repair a theory–material disconnect
Use close readings and the framework guide to explain how each theoretical concept illuminates an actual passage.
Review a Chinese draft
Run the text-review script, inspect the flagged passages, and separately verify every reference and quotation against sources.
How to get started
- 1
Install the Claude Code skill
Run the commands above to place SKILL.md, references, and scripts together under ~/.claude/skills/humanities-thesis/, then restart Claude Code. Python helpers are optional: install requirements.txt in a virtual environment from that cloned directory before using them.
- 2
Provide your object and current problem
Name the text, corpus, or historical material, the paper type, and whether you need topic guidance or revision of an existing draft.
- 3
Supply source material and references
Upload or paste the actual texts and imported literature records. Use placeholders for missing sources instead of invented citations.
- 4
Review the draft and the rule findings
Run python scripts/review.py paper.md from the repository and judge each finding in context. Source truth and argument quality still require human review.
How it compares to similar skills
Choose this package for Chinese humanities research methods and text-level checks. It complements philosophical planning tools and project-based thesis production, with some overlapping writing guidance.
